Top Social Distancing Tours to do in Southern Belize

Published on June 3, 2020

With social distancing looking to be the new normal in our lives due to the recent outbreak of the newly COVID-19 virus we must finds ways to adopt to it. However, there’s no need for social distancing to spoil your vacation plans to Belize as here in the country we have various tours and destinations that have always been that way. As we prepare to reopen Belize’s Philip S.W Goldson International Airport (no confirm date as yet), here are the top social distancing tours to do in southern Belize:

Horseback Riding

Exploring Belize’s rainforest via horseback riding is a top tour to do when vacationing in Belize. Aside from being a social-distance tour, it is a fun way to spot wildlife, explore Belize’s pristine rainforest and even swim in some refreshing river water.

Zip Lining

You can’t ask for a better way to social distance as you are up in the sky, flying at the same height of the birds while viewing Belize’s mountain hills. Zip lining is another way to surround yourself with nature while being that adrenaline rush moment you need during your vacation.

Cave Tubing

If you haven’t added this to your Belize bucket list, then it means it’s not complete as yet. Cave Tubing is one of the most unique and amazing adventures to do in Belize. During this tour you get to drift downriver inside a cave while sighting stalactites, stalagmites, and learn about the history of cave and its people, the Mayas.

Monkey River Tour

This experience begins where the famous Monkey River meets the Ocean. As you tour on a boat you pass the wooden homes owned by the locals at the Monkey River Village. While on the river bank be on the lookout for giant Iguanas, toucans, manatees, crocodiles and other species that make Belize their home. Thereafter, you get off the boat at a specific location and begin your hike through the jungle looking for the Howler Monkeys (And yes! you get to see them).

Swimming in the Inland Blue Hole

During all vacations, we always need a perfect pool to cool-off, relax and enjoy. In Belize we have your perfect 25 feet deep swimming pool which is a blue sinkhole located in the middle of the jungle known as the Inland Blue Hole. Social distancing couldn’t get any better!

Black Hole Drop

Looking for that extreme adventure while practicing social distancing, the Black Hole drop is your perfect match. Actun Loch Tunich is not for the faint of heart! This tour works every muscle so be physically prepared before signing up to explore the “Mother of Caves”. Formed from a sinkhole, you will rappel down through the rainforest canopy. Journey about 300ft until you reach the bottom! A picnic lunch will refuel you for the return trek back home!

Hike the World’s Only Jaguar Preserve

When we hear social distancing, the first thing that comes to our mind is taking a break from public and crowded places. Therefore, hiking Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary which is home to the world’s first and only Jaguar Preserve is a must. With more than 128,000 acres of lush jungle, this gem is also home to various wildlife such as parrots, black howler monkeys, toucans and much more. They are various hike traits within it with some leading to refreshing waterfalls, plane wrecks and even to some of the highest mountains in the country.
